1 Take Wonder
I've seen 1-take shots go well, and I've seen most go bad. This one is legit though. I like the song, however he might have let the beat build a little too much...

The summer I almost bled to death and made animations on Microsoft Paint.
It was the year 2000. I was 15. My dad took me to the doctor because my tonsils were swollen and infected. The doctor told me I would need a tonsillectomy. I had the surgery and the doctors told me it was a success and I would heal up and be fine.
The night after I left the hospital, as I was sleeping in my bed, I shot awake with blood gushing out of my mouth. It was an obscene amount of blood, like something straight out of Kill Bill.
My mom ran to grab a huge metal mixing bowl from the kitchen to catch the blood. I was quickly filling the bowl. What's worse was that every time the blood would clot it would block my airway and I would have to cough up the clot and start hemorrhaging again.
I was rushed to the emergency room. It was in the middle of rural Michigan at 3 a.m. so surgeons were helicoptered in for an emergency operation. The doctors told me I only had 30 mins until I died from blood loss. It turns out I was a bit of a medical anomaly. They told me I had 2 veins on one side of my throat and the average human only has one. The pressure of the extra vein caused the suture in my throat to burst open.
When I was finally released from the hospital I was weak and on a lot of Vicodin. I got the idea to start creating animations by drawing frame by frame with my mouse on Microsoft Paint. I sequenced the thousands of frames together and my animations were born.
I just stumbled across them on my hard drives tonight and I still think they're really cool. Each animation would take a few weeks to complete. It's interesting to see the art I was creating at 15, and I wanted to share them with all you.
They are displayed in the order that I created them in. Enjoy.
I was a little weirdo when I was 15. But I guess I still am.

Mad Rad wheat paste video by Nice Dreams
The dudes from Cloud Nice just dropped their new video site called Nice Dreams. They are focusing on all that is poppin in Seattle and beyond. The level of creativity and grind that comes from that camp continues to impress me.
Check out this video they did of Mad Rad doing wheat paste postering, and head over to http://nicedreams.tv to peep the rest of their videos.

Rhianna's shirt feat. Kanye West
Kanye dropped his new video for "All of the Lights" yesterday. First thing I thought was, "oh boy another font video". Then I saw Rhianna's top and any kind of critical analysis that was formulating in my mind flew right out the window.

Fresh Espresso - The Lazerbeams Live in Bellingham
The homies at Buildstrong just dropped this video from when we played The Wild Buffalo in Bellingham on Feb. 4th with Mash Hall.
Bellingham is like Disneyland for me. I love it there. The kids know how to kick it tough, and the staff at The Wild Buffalo are more hospitable than your grandma at thanksgiving.

Eighty4Fly - Faded
Cameo city! I do truly enjoy this guy's swag on his verses. The love shown for the city is great and glad to have him on team. I want to roll one up right... now.
I Can't Believe It's Not Real
Pretend like this video isn't CG. Then watch it. Then try and wrap your head around the fact that it's CG. 100% of it.
This guy, Alex Roman, is so far above the genius realm for CG I don't think anyone is allowed to make eye contact with him. He's probably fed grapes off the vine by 14 virgins while bathing in champagne brewed by Zeus himself.
It's almost impossible to believe these images are computer generated. Either way, their fucking beautiful. And if one video wasn't enough for you, check out the other below it. I can't tell which is better.

DJ Apt One - Best of Philly Disco
The homie in Phila, just dropped volume 2 of his series on V-Day, and wanted to share it all with you. I'm at least hoping Mizell appreciates this. And I must say I love his criteria for the mixtapes.
"About 10 minutes into creating my “Best of Philly Disco” mix in 2009, I immediately realized that at least one, if not two sequels were necessary. In trying to represent so many facets of this prolific time in Philly’s music history (and make a tasteful mix), I realized that one mix couldn’t cover it all. Here again are the criteria I used to select the tunes:
1. Made by a Philly-born/bred artist
2. Made by an artist on a Philly record label
3. Written/Arranged/Composed someone strongly associated with the Philly sound
4. Played by a Philly label’s house band
Volume 2 is dedicated to the memory of the great Teddy Pendergrass, who passed away in 2010."

Now here's a PSA!
This shit is so well done. I've always thought about flipping a PSA like this. Dude killed it.
By the way, "Dude" is Adam Hashemi and he recently did the Coca Cola super bowl commercial (not my favorite) but his work is definitely worth checking out.

Butterflies feat. JOHN MALKOVICH
John Malkovich is not only one of the best actors of our time but seriously under appreciated for his contributions on ground floor productions like this. He offers himself to independent shorts, experimental videos, and academic interviews more than any other actor of his caliber (at least to my knowledge). My only advice when watching this: don't be on acid. Or any other hallucinogenic for that matter.

This guy was locked in a Vegas hotel room with nothing but himself and the Phantom Flex camera. Stephan, take note!

Christian Marclay - Body Mix
In 1991 Christian Marclay began to use album covers as a medium, resulting in a group of work called Imaginary Records. Drawing on a vast collection of album covers and modifying them, Marclay began to explore the way music functions socially. Notions of nostalgia and sexual stereotypes are exposed in the smart and visually powerful album-cover collages from his Body Mix series.
Champagne Champagne - Far From Home
Champagne Champagne performs “Four Horsemen” and “Sonic Shorty” at Dot’s Cafe.
While the cooks at Dot’s Cafe are just getting their kitchen fired up, the velvet paintings never sleep. We’re loading our gear into the main room of the restaurant, setting up for the day’s first shoot. It takes a few minutes for things to sink into our sleep-deprived brains, but the general consensus eventually prevails: we’re stoked this thing actually worked out. It’s 10:00AM, and a hip-hop group from Seattle are about to get down in the classic Portland restaurant, Dot’s Cafe. Life is good.
Champagne Champagne is making its way down the coast with Mad Rad, spraying their eccentric, genre-defying rap music to the masses. Having played to a full room at Mississippi Studios the night before, the tour is off to a solid start. The group (Sir Thomas Gray, Pearl Dragon, and DJ Gajamagic) are in good spirits, sipping coffee and mocking the narcissistic absurdities of Kanye West’s 30 minute-long music video. They bust through a couple takes of new, unreleased songs that find Pearl Dragon standing up on a spinning bar stool as he rhymes, and Gajamagic shedding epileptic fits of notes out of his guitar amp. Not a bad way to wake up.
Sure, Seattle is home to plenty of hip-hop weirdos, but Champagne Champagne are perhaps among the most unsuspecting of the bunch. Growing up in the Eastside suburbs of Seattle, DJ Gajamagic (better known as Mark Gajadhar) started making songs in middle school, around the same time he played in a band with Gossip drummer Hannah Blilie. From high school on, he spent a decade as a member of post-hardcore legends the Blood Brothers (fronted by Hannah’s twin brother, Jordan Blilie). When the band broke up in ‘07, he finally had the chance to find someone to rap over the aggressive, guitar-ridden beats he’d been working on since he was a kid (while at the same time staying busy as the drummer for post-post-hardcore outfit Past Lives). He got in touch with Pearl Dragon and Sir Thomas Gray soon afterward, and the group was born. Seattle’s hip-hop landscape has never been the same.
