Fresh Espresso release "Bossalona"

Bossalona is here! Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The highly anticipated new album from Fresh Espresso is available here.

"The second album from the Seattle duo of Rik Rude and P Smoov (who’s also in Mad Rad) is another smooth and smartly crafted set of hip hop incorporating elements of electro, jazz, R&B and other styles. Both Michigan natives, the duo split the recording of the album between Seattle and P Smoov’s old hometown of Niles, Michigan, and both their current and former homes play a prominent role in the album’s songs of hard times, temptation and triumphs. It’s a fun yet substantial set with synth-driven tracks featuring a variety of funky beats and occasional horns and other instrumentation accompanying the duo’s colorful and sometimes poignant rhymes." -Don Yates - KEXP

Hard copies available at Easy Street Records, Sonic Boom, Everyday Music, and other local Seattle music shops.

Nguzunguzu's Remix Gang Gang Dance

Photobucket

LA's world-bass duo Nguzunguzu remixing "Chinese High" by NYC world-psych band Gang Gang Dance. The two outfits have actually toured together before, and this reformatted tune—the original version of which is lifted off the East Coast group's excellent Eye Contact LP from this year, is a piece of propulsive, percussion-heavy club music that's as twisted and massive as just about anything else we've heard from the production pair. You can download "Chinese High (Nguzuznguzu Remix)" for free from the widget below

P Smoov Face Scrunchers Vol 2

Hi,

I'm P Smoov.

My new record is out. Right now.

Learn, listen, love, fuck, fag, friend, die, pay, live, hate, kill.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Download here.

Here are some words about it (for idiots):

Face Scrunchers Vol. 2 is a ride through the hard drives and psyche of Seattle based mega-producer P Smoov (Mad Rad, Fresh Espresso). Half songs, half instrumentals, it’s a production album ranging from open, psychotropic compositions to tightly wound, frenetic beat concertos. All tracks are written, arranged, performed, and fondled by P Smoov himself. This album will tell you you’re pretty, love you tender, then punch you in the kidneys and throw all your shit out in the front yard.

Guests on Face Scrunchers Vol. 2 include:

Terry Radjaw, Buffalo Madonna, Rik Rude, Fatal Lucciauno, Shaprece Renee, Grynch, El Mizell, Trent Moorman, Darwin, Sharlese Metcalf, Brent Amaker, OC Notes, Slow Dance, and more.

Yours in Christ,

P Smoov

Thig is one of my favorites in the town and all three are just some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Check them at The Crocodile for their album release show. More info on that HERE.

Black Up

Shabazz Palaces new record is out today on Sub Pop. "Black Up is the new sonic move from Shabazz Palaces. Like rich velvet hijabs or gold threaded abayas. Luxury as understood by the modest. Shabazz Palaces. If Bedouins herded beats instead of goats and settled in Seattle instead of the Atlas Mountains, this would be their album. Forward thinkers but nostalgic for a sparer time when ancient astronomers only recognized five planets. Hip hop. Black light uses electromagnetic radiation to eradicate microorganisms, but shabazz didn’t come to kill a sound, just to shine their own incandescent lamp on this. Hear. Hard and clear. Fifty thousand years in the making. Honorable.—palaceer pink gators."

NEW LCD SOUNDSYSTEM!!!

LCD Soundsystem are my favorite.

They heavily influence my songwriting and production style.

They have some new shit just around the corner and I, for one, am VERY excited!

Also when I was living in Los Angeles, I recorded an album for a band that rented out a mansion (that was usually used for shooting porn) to record in. It was awesome and I totally agree with James Murphy about recording where you live. It is the way to go.
