The Destruction of a suit

This is our new pal Horacio from Los Angeles via Mexico City.

We met Horacio at the after party of our show in LA. Around 5 am Darwin, Buffalo, and I decided we were going to make the long journey from Downtown LA to Venice beach with little money and no real knowledge of the bus system. It was an adventure. Horacio was down for the ride. We eventually made it and the prize of relaxing in the beautiful sunshine with waves of the pacific and beer crashing all around us was well worth the journey.

Horacio is also an artist. He embarked on a project called "The Destruction of a Suit" where he wore a suit for 365 days straight without washing it, himself, or cutting his hair, beard, or nails. That's true dedication to your work. He told us that at first he was looking clean, then as the suit deteriorated people's views of him changed. He said by the end it was hard to part with, like it had become part of him.

Nice meeting you in LA Horacio. We kicked it tough and you kept up.

Check out more of Horacio's art here.

Paper Record Player

"This is a wedding invitation for my friends Karen and Mike. We created a paper record player to house + play a flexi disc pressed with their original song, inviting guests to the wedding." More info on Kelli Anderson's blog.

The Ninjas came thru Seattle last night and was great to kick it with them and see them rock out. Made some cuts in The Robot Room and vibed out in the Crypts studio as well. Was a great night, and can't wait to catch up more with them in Portland this week.

Vans Syndicate x Luke Meier

This is a gorgeous video of skating and showing some of this beautiful city I live in, just kicking it. All of this entering the sort of dream state that lifts your spirit and carries you away. Cameos by Ish and Benadrill on the deck. Fucking beautiful.

Kenny Raw - Left Handed Scissors

The man, the myth, the legend from The Sound of West Philadelphia and Tech Support will be in Seattle this week, and I am stoked. We are playing Jet Set tomorrow night together and I can't wait to dance to what this boy puts down. Not sure if you have his album he dropped last year, so here it is! ENJOY. The homie Blade Brown of Class Act fame, Nick Bartoletti of visual artist whatever everything and Steve Snere of These Arms Are Snakes are CRYPTS. Big beats. Industrial attitudes. Major Bass.

So good...

I Want Your Blood - LexiconDon Remix

The homies in LA remixed our very much vulgar, party starting jam "I Want Your Blood". This shit knocks soooo hard and can't wait to hear it bang out on a dance floor. I'm loving the vocal edits, the gigantic breakdown, and of course the piano solo outro. As P Smoov said: "It's not often we get a remix that is better than my version. This shit is fire!" SOTA ft. Shaprece - Alive

After delivering a guest filled debut album, SOTA took to the lab, kept the production in house via Parker and is excited to deliver a new sound to their fans. Definitely excited to hear what these guys do on their own without a bunch of guest appearances. They and Shapreezy shine bright on this. DOWNLOAD HERE

Theophilus London - Why Even Try

This is a nice play on the paparazzi and the privacy of our lives. Yes it is a little bit cheesey, but that's okay. I am still digging Theophilus' music and his latest EP Lover's Holiday. Dude has style.

Here's a few more for Jamaica, Of Montreal (I heart them!), and Black Whales.

RIP Kurt Cobain

17 years ago, I was 13 years old and living in New Jersey. Seattle seemed almost way too far away to even fathom that one day I would be living here. I knew only a handful of things about this city I have come to love: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, & The Supersonics. I remember hearing the news that Kurt Cobain committed suicide and it ultimately brought a state of sadness mixed with confusion. I had listened to In Utero constantly and loved everything about their MTV Unplugged performance. These guys seemed on top of the world and controlling/changing the state of music. It wasn't until much later in life that I learned all the pains, struggles, and seemingly endless bullshit he had been put through. It's a blessing to live in a city that embraces it's own, and if it wasn't for Seattle, I probably would have never grown into the man I am today. I do wish I could have breathed this city while Kurt was alive, and I do wonder what this city would be like now if he had never passed. Unfortunately, neither of those can happen for me. Instead, we can celebrate the man that helped mold our young minds and make us who we are today. Rest In Peace.

Wild Orchid Children - Ahead of Us the Secret

Let me hop off my bike, walk downstairs, take off my shoes, rock out with my band for 10 minutes, then put my shoes back on and leave. These guys are epic, but it does remind me of this.

Pearl Dragon - Sacred Heart Mixtape

I finished up the art for this with Pearl before Champagne left for tour. This is to commemorate the songs he made from 2003-2005. It is only available in the streets!! So look out for Pearl or Blythe and also look for it on the Champagne Champagne nationwide tour with Starfucker.
